News - Industry Information | Analysis of The Import and Export Market Status of China’s Packaging Industry in 2022

Recently,the research institute which is called Qianzhan released the analysis of the current situation of China's packaging industry import and export market in 2022 and listed data of China's packaging industry and interpreted the global industry survey.

Export: The export value is increasing year by year. United States is the largest exporting country in China's packaging industry.

According to the data of China Packaging Federation, from 2017 to 2021, the export value of China's packaging industry has been increasing year by year. From January to December 2021, the national packaging industry completed a cumulative export value of 49.076 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 27.33%.

From the perspective of export trade regions, the top five countries to which China's packaging industry exports in terms of value in 2021 are U.S.A, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia. Among them, to the United States it has completed a total export value of 8.366 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 33.28%,accounted for 17.05% of the total export value. To Vietnam it has completed a total export value of 3.557 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 16.97%, accounted for 7.25% of the total export value. To Japan it has completed a cumulative export value of 2.329 billion US dollars, an increase of 16.69% year-on-year,accounted for 4.75% of the total export value; To South Korea it has completed a cumulative export value of 2.045 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 32.28%, accounted for 4.17%; ToMalaysia's the cumulative export value was 1.818 billion US dollars,a year-on-year increase of 30.89%, accounted for 3.70%.

Judging from the export situation in various fields, last year for the cumulative export of plastic packaging products has completed 32.22 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 25.00% year on year, accounted for 66.00% of the total export value. For the cumulative export of paper packaging products has completed 8.67 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 31.09% year on year, accounted for 17.66% of the total export value. For the cumulative export value of metal packaging products it was 2.90 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 42.33% year on year, accounted for 5.9% of the total export value.For the cumulative export valueof glass packaging products it has completed 2.54 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 27.30% year on year, accounted for 5.18% of the total export value.For the cumulative export value of packaging machinery packaging products it was 2.25 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 34.95% year on year, accounted for 4.59% of the total export value. For the cumulative export value of bamboo & wood packaging products it was 0.498 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 10.17% year on year, accounted for 1.02% of the total export value.

Import: Import value continues to rise.Japan is the largest importing country in China's packaging industry

In 2021,the import value of packaging & printing industry has been constantly increased,accumulated for 16.60 billion US dollars,accounted for 16.15%.Both import value & import growth rate have reached the peak of recent years.

From the perspective of importing trade areas, the top five countries and regions in China's packaging industry import volume in 2021 are Japan, South Korea, the United States, Taiwan, and Germany. Among which, from Japan it has been completed an import value of 6.108 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 18.23%, accounted for 36.78% of the total import value.From South Korea it has been completed an import value of 2.973 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.85%, accounted for 17.91% of the total import value.From the United States it has been completed a cumulative import value of 1.923 billion USD, anincrease of 22.03% year-on-year, accounted for 11.58%. From Taiwan of China it has been completed a cumulative import value of 1.555 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 17.12%,accounted for 9.36% of the total import value. From Germany it has been completed a cumulative import value of 983 million US dollars,a year-on-year increase of 17.60%, accounted for 5.92% of the total import value.

Judging from the import situation in various fields, in 2021, last year for the cumulative import of China’s plastic packaging products has completed a value of 14.934 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 15.59% year on year, accounted for 89.94% of the totalexport value. For the cumulative import of packaging machinery products has completed a value of 1.223 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 21.93% year on year, accounted for 7.37% of the total export value. For the cumulative import of metal packaging products has completed a value of 0.196 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 18.19% year on year, accounted for 1.18% of the total export value. For the cumulative import of paper packaging products has completed a value of 0.171 billion US dollars, a cumulative increase of 16.46% year on year, accounted for 1.03% of the total export value.For the cumulative import of glass packaging products has completed a value of 78 million US dollars, a cumulative increase of 33.04% year on year, accounted for 0.47% of the total export value.For the cumulative import of bamboo & wood packaging products has completed a value of 2 million US dollars, a cumulative increase of 26.29% year on year,accounted for 0.01% of the total export value.
